Dodge designed the 2015 Dart to be as good or better than the other compact sedans on the market, and more stylish too. If you live in Texas, around Tyler or Greenville, get on over to Sulphur Springs Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and see just how affordable it can be too.
The Mazda3 for 2015 has been refreshed, but head to head against the Dart there are a few areas where it comes short.
Both cars get a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder motor as standard equipment, but Dodge gives you an extra 5 horsepower versus the Mazda3. Both cars also have an optional, more powerful 2.4-liter motor in the upper trim levels if you want a quicker, sportier compact. However, only Dodge offers a fuel efficient turbo engine tuned for fuel economy. The 1.4-liter motor offered on the Dart Aero has 34 more lb-ft of torque compared to the base Mazda motor, and loses to the top Mazda3 motor by just 1 lb-ft while getting better mileage.
The Dart and the Mazda3 are easy to park, and great in the tight city streets you get more interior room in the Dodge. The official numbers say the Dart has 1 cubic foot more interior space, and you will find it in the extra amount of shoulder room in both seats. The Dodge Dart has more trunk space too, a full .5 cubic feet more, and the rear seats fold down too.
Even at similar prices there are some features Mazda3 doesn’t have, but Dodge does. For instance, the Dart has a standard CD player stereo and the Mazda3 doesn’t. The driver’s seat is adjustable for height on the base model Dart, but you have to move to a higher trim level for that feature from the Mazda3. Dodge also gives you LED brake lights, delay-off headlights, key fob activated perimeter lights, and interior map lights; but Mazda doesn’t include any of that.
